The UTSA Block Parties are a great way to introduce your child to the game of tennis. If you’re looking to jumpstart your tennis game after a long winter, improve your fitness, or just have fun, look no further.
The Arlington USTA Block Parties have seen attendance in excess of 400 people, in prior years. Event attendees will be able to enjoy adult tennis drills, target and contest courts, “10 and Under Tennis” courts, music, light refreshments, and a dunking booth benefiting animal services.
Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games is celebrating its 27th anniversary! Bring the family and come enjoy the rich culture on display at Maverick Stadium May 3-4-5, 2013.
Renowned for its outstanding entertainment, the Festival hosts top Scottish musicians, professional athletes, champion highland dancers and an exciting array of food, merchandise, souvenirs, and beverages from Scotland and Great Britain.

TCAP Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic & Vaccinations at Arlington Animal Services. Held the second Friday of every month. For additional info call 1-866-310-7387.
Tweens and teens in grades 4-12 are encouraged to help the library while earning volunteer hours. This time can be used by school, clubs, or college applications. Youth who attend the entire three hour session are eligible to receive up to $5 in fine forgiveness on their personal account. Please register so we know how many volunteer projects we need to prepare. Thank you!

Rosemary Clement-Moore, author of Maggie Quinn: Girl vs. Evil series, The Splendor Falls and Texas Gothic, visits our Teen Zone’s Book Club. She will be discussing her new upcoming release, Spirit and Dust, and what it is like to be a young adult author.
You are not required to be a member of Teen Zone’s Book Club to attend this author visit but it is encouraged. No registration is needed but make sure you get there early for a good seat. Members will be given preferred seating.
Teen Zone is open to anyone in grades 7-12. The book club meets every Monday and Friday. See more on the library website.
If you have never been to a Park Board meeting, please come attend and see what new developments are unfolding as well as give input on current park issues. Park Board meetings take place the second Monday of every month on the 3rd floor of City Hall.
Get started on your memoirs with expert help from the North Texas Professional Writers Association. Members Art Loughrey, Charlotte Burns and Wanda Horton will present a workshop to instruct and inspire you to get the words down on paper. They will also assist with work in progress, whether formal memoirs for publication or just a few stories jotted down for your grandchildren. If this is something you have been meaning to do, this is a great opportunity to help you get started. The workshop is ideal for seniors or any age adult. You are encouraged to bring anything you have already written. Please register to reserve your space!

Tours of Help & Hope include:
- The opportunity for you to learn more about homelessness in our community, its causes, what it takes to bring people back to self-sufficiency through individualized assistance, and the difference you make;
- Go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter, learning about nightly operations and the culture of hope supporters like you help create;
- Personally meet with people whose lives have been changed through support of the shelter by people like you;
- Enjoy a light lunch with shelter staff, including Executive Director Becky Orander, MSW;
- Ask questions, gain insight, offer ideas, and share the joy of bringing all of our citizens back to self-sufficiency!

The garage sale will feature both indoor and outdoor spaces with booth rental fees starting at just $10. Indoor spaces will include a 6′ table and two chairs. Additional tables will be available to rent as well. If you don’t sell all of your stuff, and you don’t want to keep it, Mission Arlington will be there to pick up anything left over.

The Arlington Historical Society and the Arlington Public Library salute heroes on Armed Forces Day with an afternoon of lectures and military exhibits. A special highlight is the unveiling of Arlington’s new World War II digital archives collection and a museum display case featuring items from the Arlington Historical Society’s World War II collection.
Special activities include:
- 12 p.m. Opening Ceremony at the Col. Neel E. Kearby statue
- 12:30 p.m. “Arlington’s Gold Star Boys.” -Wanda Marshall, Arlington Historical Society
- 1:30 p.m. “The Whys, Wheres & Hows of Finding U.S. Military Records.” -Aaron Holt, The National Archives
In addition to the digital collection and the museum case, view exhibits of military history from UTA Library and the Arlington High School ROTC. The Historic Military Vehicle Preservation Society will also participate with vehicles from the World War II era.

An electrifying alt/pop experience
Back by popular demand in 2013 is our Party on the Patio concert series at Tierra Verde Golf Club! Put these dates on your calendar, as you won’t want to miss this year’s lineup. We are sure that this will be a memorable evening for the entire family, filled with food & drink specials and lots of fun!
The summer concert series feature live music by local Dallas-Fort Worth bands. In a family friendly environment, you can enjoy dinner and the band while the sun goes down. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs for your added comfort.
