Medieval Arts Festival Downtown at Arlington Library

Experience the Middle Ages as history comes to life at the 10^th annual Medieval Arts Festival on Saturday, October 13, at the George W. Hawkes Central Library. The fun begins at noon and events continue until 5 p.m. The library is located at 101 W. Abram Street in downtown Arlington. The event is free and open to the public.

Exhibits of medieval arts will be on display, including ancient weaponry and armor, textile arts, such as spinning and dying of wool, tapestry and needlework, jewelry making and calligraphy. Costumed members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) will share their knowledge and demonstrate medieval skills. The SCA is a nonprofit international living history organization that exists to provide education and information about life and culture prior to the 17^th century.

“The Medieval Arts Festival is an entertaining and educational event for the entire family,” said Marc Marchand, Library Services Manager for Arlington Public Library. “Come join us as we celebrate autumn medieval style. Enjoy live demonstrations, story time with a princess, and other fun activities held on the grounds and inside the library.”

Attendees will be eligible for a drawing for prizes donated by Theater Arlington and Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.
